Board Statement : End of Season Review 2025/26

24 APR 2026
We are pleased to issue this end of season review for the 2025/26 campaign.
On the field, we have now seen three seasons of continual improvement. In our first season in the Southern League we reached the play-off final, in the second we won the play-off final and secured promotion, and in this third season we have more than held our own back in the National League North. We have also enjoyed our best runs in the FA Cup and FA Trophy for a number of years.
Over this three-year period, continuity of management and playing squad has been key, alongside strengthening at important moments. This, combined with an ever-improving connection between the manager, his staff, the players, and our wonderful supporters, has played a significant part in our progress.
We hope supporters will agree that our attractive style of football across all three competitions this season has been enterprising, enjoyable, and entertaining to watch. Finishing in the top half of the table could have been achieved by just being hard to beat, but we have been a lot more than that.
With one league game remaining this Saturday 25th April, we will finish either 10th or 11th in the National League North. We believe this exceeds many pre-season expectations. That said, having spent much of the season in 7th and 8th place, we recognise that a drop in consistency during March and April has cost us a play-off position, and we acknowledge that.
Internally, the ambition of the Board and First Team Manager was to achieve the highest possible league position, and that objective has been met.
A number of our victories across the League, FA Cup and FA Trophy will live long in the memory, and across all competitions in 2025/26 we have scored an impressive 107 goals.
We would like to thank First Team Manager Kevin Wilkin, his staff, and all of our players for their efforts and achievements this season.
Importantly, this progress has been achieved in a sustainable manner. Financial results will be issued after the end of our financial year on 30th June.
Beyond the men’s first team, our womens’, boys’ and girls’ teams, along with our Foundation, have all continued to grow and develop.
We will follow up this review with further communication throughout pre-season, including the launch of 2026/27 season tickets in early May.
We are continuing to review both on and off the field, learning lessons and planning for next season, including setting targets and identifying areas for improvement.
Finally, thank you for the continued support of our fantastic supporters, staff, volunteers, sponsors, shareholders and partners, all of whom play a vital role in the football club.
